Erasmus BIP Course “Time Management and Productivity” Held at Alberta College
From October 6 to 10, Alberta College hosted a five-day Erasmus BIP (Blended Intensive Programme) course titled “Time Management and Productivity.”
A total of 27 international students from various European universities participated — including Bulgaria (Varna University of Management), Romania (Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi), Poland (Radom Academy of Economics), Croatia (Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek), and Lithuania (Vilnius Business College).
Alberta College students also joined the course as part of their elective study program.
The course lectures were developed and delivered by Inese Rutka, Program Director of Event Production, while the organizational, technical, and administrative coordination was managed by Veronika Beluza, Erasmus Coordinator.
The BIP (Blended Intensive Programme) format allows a specific course to be studied intensively — both online and in person — with students earning 3 ECTS credits upon completion of the one-week program.
This BIP course provided participants with essential time management skills, helping them to work more efficiently, increase productivity, and enhance their readiness for the international labor market.
Throughout the course, students attended lectures and practical sessions, as well as participated in a cultural program, giving them the opportunity to explore Latvian culture, Riga’s architecture, and Latvia’s natural beauty.
On the first day, students took part in the practical session “Wheel of Time Management”, where they got to know each other through games and cultural activities.
On the second day, they attended a practical session “Setting SMART Goals” and a lecture “Setting Priorities.” Afterward, they enjoyed a guided tour of Old Riga, admiring the city’s architecture and learning about Latvian history and culture.
On Wednesday, the students went on a trip to Sigulda, where they experienced Latvia’s golden autumn, visited the Turaida Castle, New Castle of Sigulda, and the Gūtmanis Cave, and took a walk through the Gauja National Park.
During the excursion, they participated in an orientation game, answered questions, took photos, and completed various tasks. This activity helped them become more united as a team, learn more about the history of Sigulda, and further develop their creativity, planning, and teamwork skills.
On Thursday, students attended a group session “Habits That Shape Your Personality”, where they learned how daily habits influence personality development, productivity, and goal achievement.
In addition, Anna Saltikova delivered a lecture “Unlocking the Impossible: The Art of Dreaming,” sharing techniques for setting and formulating goals correctly and strategies for reaching them effectively.
On the final day, students participated in the practical session “Setting the Plan Towards the Set Goal,” followed by “Taking the First Step: A Public Commitment to Pursue the Goal,” where they gave public speeches demonstrating the knowledge and skills acquired during the course.
In the evening, students and lecturers gathered for a Farewell Party, marking the end of this inspiring and creative week.
All 27 international students received certificates and earned 3 ECTS credits.
It was an intensive and emotionally enriching experience, as well as a significant milestone in Alberta College’s development.
After the course, students completed an anonymous survey, and the BIP mobility at Alberta College received an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 — an excellent result for our first experience!
We have taken all feedback into account, and the next BIP courses organized by Alberta College will be even more engaging and of higher quality!
Students’ feedback:
“I liked the spirit and how well managed everything was! Throughout the conference period Alberta College staff was extremely helpful and supportive, advised us on everything. Personally, if I could choose I would move permanently to Alberta College.”
“I want to thank everyone who participated and organized this conference. Not only did I fall in love with the country and the people, but the experience and networking opportunities we had were remarkable! I will never forget this experience and the breathtaking views we got to see with our own eyes in Sigulda. I will definitely remember this experience as one of the most memorable ones!”
